With ceiling tiles in place, lighting wired, walls painted, and floors...well...floored, the new entryway to the safe room and gymnasium at Cecil Floyd Elementary School appears to be nearing completion. This extension of the school will add quite a bit of square footage to the school's footprint and change the school's relationship with the community. The addition was Joplin Schools' and FEMA's response to the EF5 tornado that struck our school and Joplin in the spring of 2011. We will host a ribbon cutting celebration at the end of April. Want to read more about the tornado? Check my book, Out of the Wind, available on Amazon and for Kindle. |
