I'm new to the Pinterest game, and I'm not sure of its usefulness to a writer, but I have a couple of ideas for which I may start collecting inspiration.  We'll see how this goes.

Crumbling Spirit:  Another Angle

Six hundred injured.
One hundred sixty-eight dead.
A city afraid.
A nation scarred.

Central to the word terrorist is the root word - terror.  It's a word synonymous with fear and trembling.  In Crumbling Spirit, Julia quickly learns the definition to the word, but as time passes, she also decides that it will not define her!

Julia is a typical fourth grader.  She struggles in school and can't wait until summer vacation at the local amusement and water parks.  What happens when a normal life is interrupted by tragedy?  How is a normal girl to react?

Crumbling Spirit:  A Closer Look

A closer look at the "front" side of the Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City, reveals more of the damage.  The blast pushed debris through the building and out the other side.  The courthouse, on this side of the building, was also damaged.

Crumbling Spirit:  The Other Side

I always introduce the Murrah Building to my students by showing it from the more picturesque southern side.  This angle shows more of the building's architecture.

In front of the building is a park-like area, with trees and a waterfall feature surrounded by plaques with the names of the agencies that occupied the Murrah.  Also visible is a small plot of grass where the children in the daycare were allowed to play (also the place where the young fatalities were laid after they were recovered.  Underneath it all was a parking garage.

In this picture, taken in May of 1995, one can observe the effects of the blast - the broken windows and the light streaming through from the north, where the building was completely destroyed.

Julia makes some of these observations as she relates her account in my book, Crumbling Spirit.
