The truth is, following the 2011 Joplin tornado, many of the trees were not completely bare. While they sported no leaves, and some went without bark, Joplin trees were highly susceptible to flying debris. The flying boat mentioned in Out of the Wind could be seen resting in the limbs of a tree from Range Line Road for several weeks. |
