Until the tornado strikes, Maddie is a bad girl. More importantly, she has relished that label and done everything in her power to propagate that image of herself. She has hidden her true nature well.
Some people change slowly - methodically - but others are shocked into it. Maddie has never known peace. She has never found hope. She doesn't have love in her life. But good things can come Out of the Wind of any storm.
As quickly as a ride across town, Maddie's life is transforming. She sees a sign that says HOPE, a sign that someone has left for people just like her. She realizes her boyfriend only wants her for one purpose. And Maddie no longer wants to propagate her bad girl image.
She sees a friend falling apart, searching, and she knows there is more to life than pursuing happiness all the time - at least the worldly happinesses she has been chasing. There must be something more, something for which a teenage girl can strive, something worthwhile.
Follow Maddie's search in Out of the Wind.
